Who can join?
The Jax Travel and Activity Meetup Group is open to people of varying ages, marital status, cultural and ethnic backgrounds.
This group is open to people who live in the Jacksonville area who want to make some new friends while participating in fun activities and travel events.

Who should not join?
People who are only looking for people to date.
This is not a dating group. This is about making new friends and having funl.

It's great if the single people get along at our meetings and end up dating,
but please don't join if this is your sole motivation.
People who are only looking to promote their business products and/or services within our site.

Regular members who attend Meetups and who are in good standing may advertise their services or want ads on our Message board : Eventually I want to set up a Marketplace page.

What are the membership requirements for The Jax Travel and Activity Meetup Group?
You must fill out your profile give 1st name and last initials so we can identify the people with common and duplicate names. Give meaningful information which lets us know more about you. This helps to give us more familiarity with each other.
Be an active member in good standing.
To be considered an active member, you need to log-into our Meetup site at least once every 3 months and have Paid membership dues.

(After 3 months, meetup.com considers your profile to be inactive.)

Upload a photograph of yourself to your profile.
Try to attend planning meetings or Host an event.

Is there a fee to join this group?
At the present time, there is a $1.00 per month fee to be a member of this Group. In January 2008 it will be 12.00 for the year and will have to be paid by March 2008.


What are the RSVP guidelines?

RSVP stands for Répondez S'il Vous Plaît (Respond Please) and is the system used to sign up for specific Meetup Events.

Please only RSVP "YES" for events if you are sure you can attend.
It's important that we have the exact number of people attending so that:
A. We know to look out for you. (Most times we let the hostess know where we are but we do watch for people we know should be coming.)
B. We can make accurate reservations based on our RSVP list
C. We keep things safe by knowing exactly who will be showing up

RSVP is a very important tool to a host as it lets us know how many people to expect. It is ESSENTIAL and OBLIGATORY if reservations need to be made.
In order to attend a Jax Travel & Activity Event, you MUST RSVP Yes for it.
You should not show up for an event if you have not RSVPed for it and
have obtained a spot.

If you do not show up for an event when you have RSVPed YES, this can create problems with the venue. Please show consideration to the Host by updating your RSVP to NO by the day BEFORE an event if you can no longer attend the event.
If you are not sure what the deadline is, or if you have any questions, please email the Host responsible for the event as soon as possible.
To be a member in good standing for our Meetup Group, you must attend the Meetup Events that you RSVP YES for.

If you can no longer attend a Meetup Event that you have RSVPed YES for,
you can remain a member in good standing if you change your RSVP to NO and/or email the host to advise of the change in your plans in plenty of advance notice (the morning of an evening event) Many events we post a cell phone number for you to contact if you cannot make it.

Please guys I am not trying to harp on the subject because the majority of you are very good about this and the others may just needed to understand better how important it is to keep this group going.
